On Saturday, June 18, 2016, in the sweltering heat race cars took to Full Throttle Motor Speedway. On the card for the evening was the "Georgian Bay Chemical" Junior Late Models, the Mini Trucks, the Pure Trucks, the "Twin City Auto Parts" Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, and the Crazy Trains.
The "Georgian Bay Chemical" Junior Lates took to the track for their first 15 lap feature. Throughout the 15 lap race #14 Cody Wilds from Exeter led a hard fought battle with the #44 Jacob Campbell. However Cody surrendered the lead to Campbell on lap 13 and finish second. To round out the top three was #29 Austin Arnel from Thedford.
Next up was the Pure Trucks for their first 12 lap feature. This race belonged solely to the #04 Rick Book from Caster Center as he led all 12 laps. Second belonged to the #12 Mike Becker from Cambridge. And rounding out the top three was Tyler Arnold from New Hamburg.
The Mini Truck put on a terrific show for their first 20 lap feature. Hayden Sim from Komoka would quickly get by Rick Basket from Clinton on lap two and pull away from the field. But on lap ten a scary crash in turn one where Rick Basket #67 came in contact with the #77 of Miranda Gill from Waterloo putting the #77 on its side. Thankfully all the safety equipment did its job and everyone walked away. When the green flag came back out on the speedway Bubba Brown from Waterloo put his #88 in first position but eventually surrendered it back to Hayden Sim. When the checkers flew Sim was first, Brown second and third went to the #14 of Brody Schiestel from Palmerston.
The Street Stocks always provide tight racing and this night wouldn't be any different. Right away #20 Ryan Edwards-Kiss from Londesboro and #18 James Hunt would battle hard for the lead. On lap 12 James made contact with the #20 moving him out of the way to take the lead. No matter how hard Ryan he couldn't work his way through lapped traffic fast enough to compete with the #18. The race would finish with James in first, Ryan second and #6 Rob Wark from Chesley third.
Mini Stock feature one was the next bunch to take to the high banked speedway. Nick Clarke dominated this race from lap one. He held the lead for all 20 laps even through a caution on lap 9 where #34 Alex Hastie from Durham and #75 Scott Mast came together on the back stretch sending Mast into a tire at the entrance to turn three. Second would go to Alex Hastie. And Scott Mast would round out the top three.
The Crazy Trains lived up to their name as feature one was crazy. Just after the green flag had flown the race track came under red for the second time in the evening due to Johnathon Bates #13 "The Rockford Rednecks" train had its middle car roll over in the
exit of turn two. When racing resumed Mike Becker #12 and Tyler Arnold battled it out for the remainder of the feature. When the checkers flew Tyler Arnold was crowned feature winner for the first time in 2016. Second was Mike Becker. And third was Brody Schiestel and the #7 "Shake Rattle Roll" train.
After a brief autograph session the "Georgian Bay Chemical" Junior Lates took to the track for feature two. Cody Wilds would take the lead quickly on lap two and battle it out with Jacob Campbell. However on lap nine Cody and Jacob would come together in the entrance to turn three sending Jacob spinning and bringing out the yellow. When the green came back out Campbell was a man on a mission as he charged from the back of the field to the front to contest #15 Kaisha Zimoch from Delaware. On the last lap Campbell and Zimoch came together in turn four slowing Zimoch just enough that Campbell would take his second feature of the night. Second went to #15 of Kaisha Zimoch and third was the 29 of Tyler Arnel.
The second Pure Truck feature belonged all to Rick Book. Rick started from third place and by the exit of turn two was in the lead. From then on Rick set sail and would sweep both of the Pure Truck features. Second was Mike Becker #12. And third was #34 Tyler Arnold.
The Mini Trucks returned to the speedway this time hoping that all the trucks would stay on their wheels. In this race the lead would change three times. Doug Collins led for three laps but was overtaken by Tim Tolton in the #1. Tim would surrender the lead to the #44 Jacob Campbell who was quickly passed by #49 Jacob Sim. That was the last lead change as Jacob would bring the #49 into Victory Lane. #44 Jacob Campbell came second. Tim Tolton would round out the top three.
The Street Stocks returned to action promising to be better than ever with the #18 of Hunt and #20 Ryan having to battle from the middle of the pack if they wanted to win. Ryan and James would charge through the pack and eventually catch the leader #01 Travis Farrow from Dromore. However when James tried to pass Travis the cars came in contact sending Hunt spinning and getting hit by the #6 Rob Wark ending the #18 night. All that was left was Travis Farrow and Ryan Edwards-Kiss to battle for the rest of the feature. In the end Ryan just wasn't able to pass the #01 and has to settle for second on the event. To round out the top three was #05 Steve Brook from Hillsburgh.
#36 Cory Young from Owen Sound led out feature two. When the green few #75 Scott Mast jumped to the lead but surrendered it back to Cory. On lap #86, Nick Clarke to the lead and brought the machine over the line in first for the second time on the evening. Second was #36 Cory Young. And #73 Scott Scheluter rounded out the top three.
The Crazy Trains would wrap the evening up. Tyler Arnold immediately jumped into the lead and set sail bring the #34 train set over the line in first place to sweep the Crazy Trains for the evening. Second was #12 Mike Becker. And after fixing the #13 "The Rockford Rednecks" after the rollover Johnathon Bates would round out the top three.
