The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce a donation of over $21,000 to the Owen Sound Cardiac Rehabilitation Program following the 2nd running of Heart Beats and Hockey Sticks.
Taking place on Feb. 4 when the Attack played host to the Windsor Spitfires, the event saw the Bayshore faithful come out in droves to support a local program that benefits countless members of the community.
Donning special edition jerseys that were auctioned off by MPP Bill Walker following the game, the Attack defeated the Spitfires by a score of 4-1 before fans had a chance to bid on the jerseys that were worn during the game.
Including the jersey auction, the Attack also hosted a Celebrity Serve at Boston Pizza, sold Heart Beats & Hockey Sticks longsleeve t-shirts, and raffled off prizes via the Baywest Nissan Chuck-A-Puck in support of the program.
Attack Coordinator of Communications and Community Events, Shaun Bisson, said that the success of the event was due to the unbelievable support of the community.
"We're lucky that we have such passionate fans that care about those in their own backyard. We couldn't put on events like Heart Beats & Hockey Sticks if it wasn't for our amazingly supportive fan base, and we're proud that we can make this donation because of them," he said.
The Owen Sound Attack and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program would like to thank their community partners, The Leeder Family, Bayshore Broadcasting, Story Book Park, Boston Pizza, and Shorty's Grill for helping to make the event possible.
