Five members of the Owen Sound Attack will be joining their teammates who were drafted this past weekend at various National Hockey League Development Camps.
Kevin Hancock, Ethan Szypula, Sean Durzi, Zachary Roberts, and Cordell James have all been invited to different Development Camps that will take place over the next few weeks as teams look to add depth to their organization through players who didn't hear their name called at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Hancock, who finished 9th in Ontario Hockey League scoring in 2016-17 with 85 points, has been invited to the Tampa Bay Lightning's Development Camp, which will begin on Tuesday in Florida.
A veteran of 143 OHL games, Hancock broke out this past year with 30 goals and 55 assists, giving him a career total of 44 goals and 71 helpers.
Also heading to the Sunshine State for a Development Camp is defenceman Sean Durzi, who will participate in the Florida Panthers' prospect camp.
Durzi, who scored twice this past season while adding an impressive 36 assists from the back end, has suited up in 105 games over two years for the Attack and has 12 goals and 42 helpers in those games. He will join former Owen Sound rearguard Thomas Schemitsch at Florida's camp, which runs from Tuesday until Friday of this week.
Zachary Roberts, a rookie forward for the Attack, will be participating in the Dallas Stars' Development Camp after earning an invite following his 2016-17 season. In 61 games of action, Roberts scored 10 times and chipped in with 12 helpers while racking up 46 minutes in penalties.
Cordell James, who joined the Attack as a trade deadline acquisition this past season, will take place in the Arizona Coyotes' Development Camp which gets underway today.
In 28 games with Owen Sound, the overage forward tallied an impressive 21 goals and 10 assists for 31 points. Between the Attack and the Barrie Colts, James appeared in 262 career OHL games, scoring 67 goals and racking up 70 assists.
Rounding out Owen Sound's camp invitees is Ethan Szypula, who will travel north to Edmonton to take part in the Oilers' camp.
Coming off of his 4th year in the league, Szypula had his best year in the OHL, scoring 11 times and adding 36 assists in 64 games for a total of 47 points. In 253 career games with the Attack, Szypula has found the back of the net 42 times while assisting on 83 other goals for a total of 125 points.
Dates of Dallas' and Edmonton's Development Camp dates have yet to be announced.
The Attack now turn their attention towards the 2017 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, which will take place on Wednesday, June 28, beginning at 11:00am. Owen Sound will select at 55th overall in the 1st round.
