The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that General Manager Dale DeGray has completed a trade with the Saginaw Spirit to acquire left winger Daniil Vertiy in exchange for a conditional 15th round pick in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.
A native of Nizhnevartovsk, Russia, Vertiy was originally selected 26th overall in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection by the Windsor Spitfires where he played a season and a half before being dealt to North Bay where he played 104 of his 186 career Ontario Hockey League games.
Over the course of his OHL career, the 19 year old - who stands at 5'11 and weights 205 lbs, has tallied 29 goals while assisting on 45 others for 74 points.
In 17 games with the Spirit this season, Vertiy has scored once and added eight assists to go along with a goal and a helper in five games with North Bay.
"Daniil is a player who has proven he can provide offence in this league," said DeGray of his acquisition. "We're excited to get him into the lineup and provide some more depth to our forward group."
Vertiy will make his debut with the Attack when they travel to Guelph to take on the Storm on Friday, Dec. 8 in a 7:30pm contest.
