The Canadian Cancer Society and the Owen Sound Attack are thrilled to announce that Pink in the Rink 2014 raised $28,000.00 for breast cancer research, with a 4 year total of just over $115,000.
Pink in the Rink was held Sunday October 19th against the Windsor Spitfires, which saw the Attack come back in the third period and capture a 5-4 OT win. As they do every year, Attack fans turned the rink into a Pink haven and made it an afternoon to remember.
"Every year we are shocked by the results of this event.", stated Brent Fisher. "This community is so giving that we shouldn't be surprised, but the support that this event receives year after year is remarkable."
The afternoon started with a ceremonial puck drop by Pattie Garvie-Tannahill and also included a Shoot to Win where 3 local ladies won the right to shoot through a contest with DC Taylor Jewellers, a silent auction, bucket pass and a live pink jersey auction followed the game. The week preceding the game Boston Pizza held a Celebrity Serve to kick off the event where fans could sit down to enjoy a meal served by their favorite Attack player, which was also supported by the Owen Sound Fire Department and their Pink Fire Truck.
"The sponsors and committee members deserve the credit for this event.", said Fisher. "Without the guidance and assistance from the committee and the backing of our loyal sponsors, this event wouldn't be the success it is every year."
