The Owen Sound Attack's Michael McNiven stood tall in net Saturday, backstopping his tired team to a 3-0 win – McNiven's first Ontario Hockey League shutout.
It was the third game in three nights for the Attack, and the only win in the trio of games. The Attack lost in Windsor 4-2 Thursday, then lost a 3-2 shootout in Plymouth Friday.
It was all Windsor in the first period Saturday, before the Attack woke up in the second period. Chris Bigras walked in from the blueline during a four-on-four and scored a neat backhander. In the third, Attack goals were scored by Damir Sharipzyanov and Zach Nastasiuk less than a minute apart to seal the victory. Nastaskiuk also scored twice in Thursday's game against the Spitfires.
McNiven stopped all 33 shots he faced and was named the game's first star. McNiven is a perfect 3-0 this year.
The Attack are in action Friday Nov. 14 in London, then at home Nov. 15 against London.
The Attack sit in fourth place in the tight Midwest Division with 21 points.
