attackblack-fullThe Owen Sound Attack will be squaring off against a divisional rival in a home and home this weekend. The Attack travel to London to take on the Knights on Friday, Nov. 14, before returning home for a rematch on Saturday. Game time for both contests is 7:30pm.

Owen Sound enters the weekend on the heels of Michael McNiven's first career OHL shutout, a game that also snapped a three game losing skid for the squad. London also had a streak snapped in their last outing, a 9-4 loss to the Guelph Storm. The Knights had previously won eight games in a row. Just a single point separates these two Midwest Division squads, with the Knights holding a 12-7-0-0 record for 24 points this year, while the Attack sits at 9-4-1-4 for 23 points.

Owen Sound's Kyle Platzer will be looking to extend his eight game point streak against his former team on Friday night. In the past eight contests, Platzer has scored once and added 10 assists for 11 points in what has been a breakout year for the Edmonton Oilers' draft pick. Through the Attack's 18 games on the year, Platzer has 24 points and is on pace to shatter his career high.

Captain Zach Nastasiuk, who along with Chris Bigras and Damir Sharipzyanov will be playing the SUBWAY Super Series on Thursday, Nov. 13 in Peterborough, is also showing strong play as of late. In the team's last four games, Nastasiuk has five goals giving him 10 on the year.

The Knights are being led offensively by the league's 4th and 6th leading scorers. Max Domi has nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points in 17 games this year while draft eligible Mitchell Marner has scored 13 times and added 19 assists for 32 points.

Owen Sound and the Knights have squared off twice already this year, with both games needing extra time to be decided.

Friday night's game can be watched on Rogers Local 53 or listened to live on 560 CFOS with Fred Wallace on Terry's Trailer Service/Kia of Owen Sound Bear Radio.

Tickets for Saturday night's game, and all Attack home games can be purchased at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.

KEYS TO VICTORY

Having dropped two overtime/shootout games to the Knights already this year, the Attack will need a full 60 minute effort to steal four points from their divisional rival this weekend.

While the Knights started slowly, they have picked up steam as of late and have shown just how dangerous they can be offensively. That is why it is important that the Attack limit London's offensive zone time as much as possible, and stay out of the box to squander any power play chances their opponents might have.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kyle Platzer, C, Owen Sound Attack

6 G, 18 A, 18 GP

Playing against your former team often provides a little bit more jump for a player, and as such Platzer and Santino Centorame will likely have a bit more of a fire lit under them this weekend. Platzer's eight game point streak is indicative of his play as a whole this year, as the 19 year old has taken his game to a new level.

Max Domi, C, London Knights

9 G, 25 A, 19 GP

The newly named captain of the Knights is showing why he was taken 12th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He has only been held off of the scoresheet twice this year, and if the Attack want to boost their chances of winning, doing so this weekend will be something they key in on.
