The Owen Sound Attack has named forward Kyle Platzer the Becker Shoes Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 7th, 2014.
Platzer and his Attack teammates started the week off in Erie against the high octane Otters. Despite dropping a 4-3 decision, the Edmonton Oilers prospect was in on every Attack goal, notching a goal and two assists. On Friday night, the Waterloo native tallied a highlight reel goal in front of his family and friends in Kitchener in a 3-0 Attack win. With the hot hand, Platzer and the Attack returned home on Saturday to take on the very same Rangers. The nineteen year old forward didn't disappoint as he scored his first career hat-trick and added an assist in a 5-2 Attack win.
Since being acquired from the London Knights last January, Platzer is averaging just over a point a game and currently sits 15th amongst OHL point getters with 37 points this season.
Honorable mention this week goes to goaltender Michael McNiven who went 2-0 with one shutout, a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .967 save percentage.
Platzer and the Attack is back in action this Friday when they travel to Guelph before returning home on Saturday to host the Mississauga Steelheads.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com or by calling (519) 371-7452.
