The Owen Sound Attack in partnership with Brock University is announcing that the Do it for Doczy Campaign will continue in light of the positive news that Milan Doczy received last week.
On February 2nd, Milan was informed that an anonymous donor stepped forward to cover the costs of the expensive Interferon drug. Interferon is the drug that Doctors deem necessary for Milan to take while he battles Melanoma.
"We would like to see our commitment to Milan through to the end.", stated Attack Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Brent Fisher. "Prior to Milan receiving this wonderful news, we had reached out to NHL teams to assist us with an auction to benefit Milan. The response towards Milan's cause from these teams has been overwhelming and we want to ensure that their respective efforts to help Milan are carried out the way they were intended."
During the Bears in Blue jersey auction following the Attack home game on February 28th, several special autographed NHL Jersey's will also be included in the live auction with the proceeds from those specific jersey's being directed towards Milan's trust fund. Some of the jersey's include a 2014/2015 Team Signed Montreal Canadiens Jersey and autographed Bobby Ryan (Anaheim), Alex Pietrangelo (St.Louis), Tyler Seguin (Dallas), Mark Giordano (Calgary), among other jersey's that are still yet to arrive.
Any and all money raised for the Do it for Doczy fund will be placed in a Trust Fund for Milan. A running tally of this trust fund is also available at www.milandoczy.com. The money will be withdrawn from the Trust Fund on an as needed basis for Milan, to help with other costs he will incur during his treatment and recovery. The money will remain in a Trust for Milan for an undetermined (min. 2 years) amount of time and will be available to him should he run into future medical issues that are not covered.
"We've been grateful for the showing of support for Milan.", said Fisher. "As of this release, the Sudbury Wolves, Kitchener Rangers, Belleville Bulls and Sarnia Sting have all purchased bracelets in bulk to show their support of this cause. It shows you what a tight knit, caring league we have here in the OHL."
Bracelets are still available at the Attack Shack or Attack Pak Booth for $5.00.
