The Grey Bruce Health Unit is seeking assistance from the public in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred in Meaford.
On July 22, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a woman walking a white terrier on the waterfront near the museum was confronted by a brown labradoodle that proceeded to attack her terrier. In her attempts to separate the two dogs, the woman was bitten. The labradoodle ran off.
Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment. The majority of councilors arrived dressed down to look cool in the heat. I've never seen so many delightfully ugly shirts on elected officials.

Just 30 days are left to sign up for the Bayshore Race. The event is set for Sunday, August 23rd. Race Director, Greg Nicol and organizers hope to welcome more than 500 participants, 60 volunteers plus hundreds of spectators!
Runners and walkers can register online by visiting onlineregistrations.ca. Registration forms are available at Runner's Den, from the Foundation office or can be downloaded from the Race website. Last minute rates for all events come into effect August 19th.
"We're really excited to host our sixth Bayshore Race" said Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation Chair Neil McCutcheon. "The Bayshore Community Centre is a great venue, the scenery is spectacular and we have an important cause to raise funds for." All proceeds support the Hospital Campaign, for better cancer care.

The Owen Sound Community Fund is pleased to offer a chance to win a framed numbered print by Canadian artist Carl Beam as a fundraiser this summer and fall.
All proceeds, along with donations and bequests to the Owen Sound Fund, are invested in a pool of funds under the umbrella of the Community Foundation Grey Bruce. The income earned from the capital of the Fund is distributed through grants to applicable not-for-profit organizations within Owen Sound.
Virginia Eichhorn, Director and Chief Curator of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, knew Carl beam well and curated over a dozen of his exhibitions. She was pleased to help introduce the artist with these words,
Veteran Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop has announced that he is resigning his seat to allow Progressive Leader Patrick Brown to run in a byelection. Originally a strong opponent of Brown's leadership bid, Dunlop appears to have had a change of heart about the former MP from neighbouring Barrie. After a thirty-five year career in municipal and provincial politics, Dunlop will not be serving in Brown's caucus.
Premier Kathleen Wynne has not yet announced a date for the byelection, saying only "stay tuned".
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker made the following statement about Dunlop's resignation:
