WORDS ALOUD EARLY BIRD TICKETS

visions-regOwen Sound- Monday October 20, 2014 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm the Library will be hosting bestselling Canadian author Kelley Armstrong, the third author in our Fall Author Series.

Kelley is best known for her fantasy writing, including the Otherworld series in which the first book "Bitten" has been turned into a television show with the same name on the Space network. She has also written a crime trilogy, young adult novels and numerous novellas. Her latest book, "Visions" is book two in her new Cainsville series; the third book is expected in the new year.

The evening will include a reading by the author, a chat, and book signing. Tickets are available at the Library Circulation Desk for $5.00.

TOM-regOne of the TOM's most popular events is back on Saturday November 22, 2014, from 2-5pm!

Join us for an afternoon of wine and hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Tim Johnston on the patio at Cobble Beach overlooking a stunning view of Georgian Bay. A shuttle will take guests on a tour of artwork by Stephen Hogbin, Alan Glicksman, Keira McArthur and Louise Moore showcased in Cobble Beach's new Blue Bay Villas.

The TOM and Roots will also be launching the next line of the Tom Thomson Collection at this event. The Roots clothing line is inspired by the life of Tom Thomson and works from the

dancers-regContra Dance is coming to the Walter's Falls Community Centre on October 18.
Doors open at 7 p.m., warmups at 7:15, dancing at 7:30.
The Owen Sound-based Fiddlefern Country Dancers will present Scatter the Cats, a five-piece dance band, along with callers Frank Francalanza and Kate McLaren. Beginning dancers are always most welcome.
There will also be a silent auction of shared, donated fall harvest items, and a social gathering nearby after the dance.

awards-regOwen Sound, Ontario – Monday, October 6, 2014 – Nominations for the 6th Annual Owen Sound Cultural Awards are now open. The City invites residents of the Owen Sound area to nominate their favourite artist, event, or organization for one of the nine awards to be presented at a reception at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery in February 2015.
The awards include: Outstanding Group, Individual, Event, or Festival; Emerging Artist; Patron; Volunteer Service; Cultural Heritage; and Lifetime Achievement. Each award winner receives a beautiful hand-crafted marquetry box designed by Owen Sound artist Diane Edwards. The winner of the Emerging Artist award also receives a cash prize of $500.
