Local authors will gather for the 36th Annual Ginger Press Authors' Open House from 11:00 to 3:00 on Saturday, December 11.
This long-standing literary event will feature 15 prominent local authors, who will be on hand to talk about writing, and sign books.The Annual GP Authors' Open House will take place at Heartwood Hall (2nd flr, 939 2nd Avenue East, downtown Owen Sound) this year, to allow for more effective COVID distancing protocols.
The following authors will be present:
Joan Beecroft, Dana Benson & Donna Jansen (A Place to Belong: Stories from Newcomers);
John Butler (House of Refuge);
Cathy Hird (Between Our Steps);
Lili Anne Holding (Mythos: Owen Sound's Greek Community 1912-1932);
Larry Jensen (These Streets I Know, book & CD); Bonita Johnson de Matteis (Black Eyed Peas & Races: The Emancipation Picnic);
Marie Knapp (Path to a More Inspiring Future);
Barry More (A Thing of Beauty: The Story of Morland Place);
Rob Rolfe (Sturgeon Bay: Poems);
Richard-Yves Sitoski (No Sleep til Eden: Poems);
Richard Thomas (History of Owen Sound 1840-1939 in 3 volumes);
Brad Wilcox (Too Far Back in the Bush: Meaford Hockey Team); and
Eric Zweig (Hockey Hall of Fame Heroes).
Established in 1978, The Ginger Press is one of the oldest independent bookstores in Canada. Their publishing program started in response to the lack of books about this region; since 1987 they have published over 150 books of local fiction, history, poetry, children's titles, cookbooks, and more, written by local authors.
