On Sunday October 23 Culture Reject and Lauren Best take the stage at Heartwood Hall. Doors open at 2:30pm with showtime at 3pm for this all-ages double bill. . Tickets are a suggested donation of $10-15, available at the door on the day of the event.

“Canadian Culture Reject creates Lo-Fi Soul music inside Broken Pop songs. While drawing comparisons to Andy Shauf, Talking Heads, Big Thief and the “real soundtrack to a Wes Anderson film” — Culture Reject songwriter Michael O’Connell explores themes of power + justice, mental health and radical self-care with soundscapes that reflect his move away from Toronto to the wide open spaces found hours north of the city. Between evening swims, Culture Reject is crafting it’s 5th international release, Lauren Headshotinvisible work — an intimate, guitar/synth/voice dance party –set for release on Specific Recordings (France) in April 2023, with tour dates in UK, Europe, Canada and the US.”

Lauren Best is a poet, musician, composer and creative living near Georgian Bay, on the territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation. Lauren brings arts engagement to people of all ages using interdisciplinary approaches as a facilitator, educator, creative coach, and performer. Songs from her self-produced album Sticker Collection (2011) have been heard coast to coast. Lauren was Owen Sound’s Poet Laureate (2017-2019), and her first full length poetry book will be available to pre-order in 2022.
