Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival Announces Lineup
The Georgian Bay Folk Society is releasing the performer lineup for the 41st annual Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival. Every day until March 31st the Folk Society will announce one of the acts to appear on the stages of Summerfolk 41 at Kelso Beach in Owen Sound, August 19-21.
A handful of performers have already been released including multi-time Juno Award winner Bruce Cockburn, Lindi Ortega, and Good for Grapes. There are more than 30 acts still to be announced. This year's lineup is again the work of Summerfolk Artistic Director James Keelaghan.
Keelaghan won't release names early but the glint in his eye betrays his excitement about the lineup. "I don't want to spoil the surprise," Keelaghan said, "but I can tell you that we've got a great mix of iconic acts, returning favourites, and new talent from the blues, to classic folk, traditional bands, and even a little bit of hip-hop thrown in. Locals will recognize a few bands from Grey and Bruce counties and we're bringing in acts from as far away as New Zealand and Australia".
New performers will be released each day on the Summerfolk Facebook page and at www.summerfolk.org leading up to the Early Bird ticket deadline March 31st. Early Bird buyers save $30 on weekend passes and ticket holders can bring children 12 and under for free.
