Friday, May 5th, from 6 pm until 9pm, downtown Owen Sound will celebrate the arrival of spring with FRESH 1st FRIDAY. Merchants will fling open their doors from 6pm to 9pm with specials, events and music! The Owen Sound DIA and BoOST have created a fun interactive evening.
New this year is CHALK-A-BLOCK, an exciting new art experience!
Ten sidewalk sections between the DIA offices and Carney's Lane will be reserved for artists to create a temporary public masterpiece!
Artists will be creating their chalk tour de force between 4pm and 7pm. A group of judges will inspect the art, then award DIA dollars in several categories. Ballot boxes will be available downtown for the public to vote on their favourite! Spaces are limited; so if you would like to participate, don't delay! Interested solo artists, duos or even groups may sign up at the DIA office at 854 2nd Avenue East. There is a $20 deposit that will be returned on the day of the event.
Chalk will also be available in Carney's Lane for children to make their chalk mark!
So visit our city center on the the evening of Friday May 5th, watch the sidewalks visually transform, browse the specialty shops and dine at one of the many global restaurants. Finish your evening with live music at Heartwood Concert Hall, where My Son the Hurricane will be bringing down the house! Experience Downtown Owen Sound at its very best!
