Spring is a time of growth and renewal, and Sheatre offers a fun and creative way to promote both personal development and social change in Rainbow of Desire, an interactive workshop on Saturday May 4 in Owen Sound.
Joan Chandler, Artistic Director of Sheatre leads the workshop, open to participants of all experience levels. It’s ideal for community workers, counselors, teachers, performers, directors, activists, social change advocates – anyone interested in ways that theatre and the arts can empower individuals and contribute to a healthy, compassionate society. Open to all, and suitable for ages 16 and up. Registration is required.
In Rainbow of Desire we look at a single moment to consider both sides of a conflict. Participants will explore all the different colours and hidden hues of assumptions and misunderstandings between two people. This exercise is from Augusto Boal’s “Theatre of the Oppressed” where interactive theatre and improvisation are used to encourage positive social change and personal growth. Associate Artist Warren Bain is excited to participate. He says, “She has first-hand learning from Augusto Boal, it’s like learning rhymes from Shakespeare.”
