The Ginger Press will host a double reading and signing this Thursday (June 20) at 7:00pm in downtown Owen Sound. Two local authors have recently published books connected with our part of the Great Lakes and both will be on hand to talk about their projects and sign copies.
Award winning writer and photographer Bruce Kemp has researched and written a book about the Great Storm of 1913 when hundreds of men and women from a dozen of the largest freshwater ships lost their lives due to a Class 1 hurricane. He has spent years chasing down the stories of witnesses and survivors as well as newspaper reports and courtroom testimony and the result is Weather Bomb 1913: Life and Death on the Great Lakes.
A.M. Potter has written a contemporary novel which is based loosely on the Tom Thomson mystery. In Bay of Blood, world-renowned painter Thom Tyler is murdered in Colpoy's Bay. The consensus is that he had no enemies. Why would anyone murder him? Detective Sergeant Eva Naslund and a homicide team from OPP Central find no useful blood, print or DNA evidence. And so begins this fast-paced novel, complete with cellphones, Russian operatives and shady art dealers.
Both authors will give short book talks and readings, and be available for Q&A. Autographed copies of Weather Bomb 1913 ($29.95) and Bay of Blood ($24.95) can be reserved at 376-4233 if you are unable to attend.
