The City of Owen Sound will be distributing free face masks to Grey County long-term care facilities and daycares, Chatsworth Nursing Home, and some non-governmental organizations within Owen Sound.

Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy thanked the Taiwanese community and City resident Louise Gamble today for the generous donation of 10,000 masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The initiative was headed by Ms. Gamble while she resided and worked as a missionary in Taiwan. The masks, donated by teachers, students and students’ parents of Tamkang Private School in Taiwan, will be a great benefit to local residents and visitors of long-term care facilities in Owen Sound and Chatsworth, and staff and visitors at Grey County operated local daycares.

A supply of masks will also be delivered to a few local non-governmental organizations for their staff and vulnerable clients.

Ms. Gamble was at Lee Manor for the donor acknowledgment along with Mayor Ian Boddy, MPP Bill Walker, Deputy Mayor Brian Gamble of the Township of Chatsworth, Jennifer Cornell, Director of Long-Term Care for Grey County, Stacie Goldie, Executive Director of Lee Manor, Michael Stainton, Past President of Taiwanese Human Rights Association of Canada, and Tim Simmonds, City Manager.

"We are very thankful for this generous donation from the Taiwanese community and I personally thank Louise Gamble for her role in this effort. These masks will be used and appreciated by many residents and visitors of long-term care homes, Grey County daycare staff and many others in our region, as the City continues to support community safety," says Mayor Ian Boddy.
