fire safey workshopWorking smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are a key part of home fire escape planning. Investigations into residential fire deaths often find that a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm did not sound. The device may have been disconnected, not in working order, or the batteries may have been dead or removed from the device. Knowing and practicing your home fire escape plan can also save your life. Get out and stay out.

To help improve the safety of those living in the City of Owen Sound, the Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services is partnering with RONA Fulfords to host a fun, educational event to teach children and adults how to prevent fires at home and how to stay safe during a fire. The family-friendly event will include giveaways, an information session on smoke alarms and fire escape planning. Families will be able to meet and interact with members of the Fire and Emergency Services team who serve their community.

When: Thursday October 22, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Where: RONA Fulfords Hardware – 874 2nd Ave East, Owen Sound
