Mike Crone

The City of Owen Sound is pleased to announce that Mike Crone is joining the staff team as Acting Director of Public Works and Engineering effectivedennis today. This follows the retirement of Dennis Kefalas who has been in the role since 2018, through many major projects including the first phase of the Downtown River Precinct and the Giche-name-wiikwedong Bridge rehabilitation.  Mayor Boddy thanked Mr. Kefalas for his service and wished him well in his retirement.

Mike Crone has held various roles during his career, including Operations Manager with the Ontario Clean Water Agency, Manager of Public Works with the City of Owen Sound, and most recently, Operations Coordinator, providing supervision and capital support for infrastructure at Bruce Power. He and his wife Betty have been life-long residents in Grey-Bruce and have lived in Owen Sound since 1991.

Kristan Shrider smallEarlier this year, Kristan Shrider left her position as Owen Sound's Senior Manager of Corporate and Facility Services to become the Director of Community Services & Operations in Saugeen Shores where she was, until January 24, 2022, a sitting member of the Town Council.

According to their media release, the City will undertake the recruitment for permanent replacements following a corporate-wide organizational review later this year.  "This will allow the City to remain flexible as the City works to examine service levels and optimize the organizational structure".
