The City of Owen Sound is delighted to announce that Ms. Lara Widdifield is joining the City of Owen Sound as Director of Public Works and Engineering.

A comprehensive, Canadian-wide recruitment process was undertaken in October of 2022 to identify interested and qualified candidates for the permanent Director of Public Works position.

Throughout Ms. Widdifield’s 20-year career, she has held a variety of progressively responsible positions in both the private and public sectors in Ontario and Alberta, most recently, as Director of Public Works with the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Ms. Widdifield’s position as Director oversees engineering services, public works, water and wastewater divisions. According to the City's media release, she has an "expansive knowledge and diverse background in development engineering and project management, water/wastewater, infrastructure lifecycle planning, and cost estimation" and "is an experienced leader and Certified Engineering Technologist who is dedicated to a commitment to lifelong learning and excellence."

Lara’s first day with the City is January 16, 2023.
