Please be advised that the City is seeking public feedback on a proposed by-law to regulate fires in Owen Sound.
The City has prepared a short survey with space at the end to provide general comments. Please provide your comments by June 30, 2017.
The proposed by-law would update the City's existing Open Air Burning By-law.
Many of the current rules would stay the same such as no burning garbage or toxic materials and the proposed by-law would clarify the difference between recreational and cooking fires. The by-law would also require brush and organic yard waste to be delivered to the City's compost site instead of being burned. The proposed by-law also allows for ceremonial fires for groups such as First Nations.
For more information or to receive updates please see the Proposed Fire By-law project page on the City's website.
