kenny-drainThe City of Owen Sound will be undertaking the construction of a new stormwater management facility as part of the Kenny Drain system. The Kenny Drain Stormwater Management Pond and Diversion Channel to be constructed as part of this project will slow the stormwater runoff and reduce the amount of erosion taking place in the downstream channel. This will improve water quality in Georgian Bay.

"This has been identified as a need since the late 1980's and Council is extremely pleased to see it finally move forward." Said Mayor Boddy. We would like to extend our thanks to the federal government and the Clean Water & Wastewater Fund for their assistance in making this project possible."

The construction is set to begin July 10, 2017 and will be completed by the late fall of 2017. The construction will affect 20th Street East between 16th Avenue East and 20th Avenue East. While works are underway, 20th Street East will be closed to through traffic. During short periods of time 20th Street East will be closed entirely, road detours will be in place throughout ensuring access to local properties and businesses.

Limited watermain works will take place during this project causing service interruptions. These interruptions will be no longer than one working day and will be preceded by a notice to the customer 48hrs in advance.
