The City of Owen Sound will be undertaking the reconstruction of the watermain and associated services along 16th Street West from 5th Avenue West to 8th Avenue West. The watermain is beyond its useful life and as such City of Owen Sound Council approved the replacement in the 2017 budget.
"This watermain has a history of breaks and has been identified as a replacement priority for a number of years" said Deputy Mayor Arlene Wright. We are very pleased to see this project moving forward."
The construction is set to begin July 10, 2017 and will be completed by September 4, 2017. While construction is underway, 16th Street West will be closed to through traffic, road detours will be in place throughout ensuring access to local properties and businesses.
Limited watermain works will take place during this project causing service interruptions. These interruptions will be no longer than one working day and will be preceded by a notice to the customer 48hrs in advance.
In addition; this watermain serves customers outside the City in the adjacent municipality of the Township of Georgian Bluffs as far west as Park Street and as far north as 19th Street West. These customers will experience water interruptions during the construction period. These interruptions will be no longer than one working day and will be preceded by a notice to the customer 48hrs in advance.
