At Monday's meeting Owen Sound City Council will vote on a recommendation to enter into an agreement with Bruce Peninsula Transit (BPT). The new bus company runs passengers from Cape Croker and Wiarton to Owen Sound and return twice daily, and has requested the use of a number of City bus stops for picking up and dropping off passengers.
The proposed agreement includes nine stops; four on 10th St East and West, and the others near the Georgian College, the mall, hospital, courthouse and WalMart.
BPT passengers will be able to catch a City bus at the transit terminal for free when they show a valid transfer, but BPT buses will not be competing with Owen Sound Transit buses by picking up and dropping off passengers within the City.
Bruce Peninsula Transit will be expected to have appropriate licences and insurance, and comply with applicable health and safety regulations.
