harbourfestIt's no secret that one of the City of Owen Sound's best assets is the unique waterfront and Harbourfest is the City's newest event to celebrate that waterfront.

Taking place on Saturday, July 14, 2018 Harbourfest is a one-day, rain-or-shine event that will draw crowds to Owen Sound's inner harbour for food, drinks, live entertainment and fun family activities. Admission is free; Harbourfest is presented by Core Partners Group - IPC Securities.

The 'Main Stage' will be located on the east harbour wall, in front of the new Mudtown Station Brewery & Restaurant, with a fully-licensed area to enjoy performers all day long, culminating in the Practically Hip, a Tragically Hip tribute band, hitting the stage at 8 PM. Craft breweries and food trucks will be on site to quench thirst and satisfy cravings while taking in the many different forms of entertainment provided by the City of Owen Sound and other groups.

"We saw great success last year with the Festival Canadiana and the Giant Duck, drawing people to the waterfront," City Manager, Wayne Ritchie says. "We have a one-of-a-kind backdrop and we're excited to continue to bring new and exciting events to our waterfront".

Community groups will be on hand to offer activities throughout the day along the inner harbour. Confirmed groups include: Owen Sound Police Services will have a Tug-of-War taking place from two floating docks in the harbour; 1st Avenue East will boast an antique car show along the harbour wall, the 'Main Stage' and more activities, booths and vendors to be confirmed; the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre will be hosting family-focused activities along the west harbour, including model trains and workshops with Poet Laureate Lauren Best; and Indigenous 150+ will host a screening of the film "When They Awake" at Heartwood Hall, presented in partnership with M'Wikwedong Native Cultural Resource Centre, Great Lakes Métis Council and the City of Owen Sound.

If you have a community group looking to take part as a vendor or run an activity at Harbourfest, visit www.OwenSound.ca/Harbourfest and complete a Community Groups & Exhibitors Application form.

Other long-standing City events will be taking place this summer, including TD Harbour Nights live music every Sunday at the Visitor Centre, Canada Day Celebrations at Kelso Beach, and Outdoor Movie Nights in August.
