heatwave

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Owen Sound and area.

Starting today and extending through the Canada Day long weekend, temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid-thirties with humidex values into the mid-forties, which will make it feel even warmer.

The following air-conditioned city buildings can provide relief from the heat, and rest areas:

The Bayshore Community Centre
Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library
Saturday: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM

The Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre – NS Corridor Hallway Entrance
Friday: 5:45 AM to 10:00 PM
Saturday: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Sunday: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

The Kelso Beach Splash Pad also offers fun while staying cool.

Be a good neighbour by ensuring our elderly residents are safe. Don't leave pets or children in parked vehicles, stay hydrated, wear light clothes, and always wear sunscreen with an SPF-30 or higher.
