Although winter weather is often random and unpredictable, the City’s snow removal efforts are not. The City of Owen Sound is committed to providing a high level of snow removal service throughout the winter season 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

With the predicted weather forecasts for the next fourteen days, it is unlikely that we will be able to completely remove and clear the downtown core snow banks within that time period. Currently we are under a Snowfall Warning for the next 11 hours in our area associated with the Alberta Clipper and the prediction of snowfall during the next three evenings.

Presently the first clear forecasted day is Friday, February 1st but staff will be trying to catch up with the sidewalks throughout the city. The sidewalk clearing always lags behind the roads because the equipment does not travel quickly due to snow load.

Staff will continue to monitor the weather looking for a break that will allow us to address the snowbanks in the downtown core. The City appreciates your patience.
