Screen Shot 2020 03 03 at 7.57.48 AMBarry's Construction has asked that 1.3 acres of Owen Sound park land, a narrow strip of Timber McArthur Park /Stoney Orchard Park west and north of 23rd St. East, be made available for housing.

Staff has made a recommendation to start the eight-step process of investigating the possibility of the re-purposing of this land. Council accepted the recommendation at its Monday meeting.  The full staff report is here.

The process will include opportunity for public input at both an open meeting and through a survey which will be delivered to those within 500 m. of the parcel of land.

Council could decide to put the property up for sale, not sell, or modify the sale. Any sale of land by the City is required to comply with the Land Sale By-law including "among other matters, appraisal, method of sale, public meeting, and a by-law to declare the lands surplus."
