Concern over Brian Giesbrecht's column - Some questions about Kamloops: rushing to judgement without all the facts, published in the Winnipeg Sun.
I'm writing to express my concern at your decision to publish a colum by Brian Giesbrecht questioning the nature of the discovery of 215 children's bodies at the former Kamloops Residential school.
It is irresponsible for your paper to contribute to the racist and apologist voices that would minimize and deny the horror of residential schools while also blaming the victim children for spreading disease. This column was full of unfounded claims and false equivalences.
I request that you publish a correction and apology for this column that appropriately cites the finding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and honours the survivors of residential schools many of whom - contrary to Brian's claims - are still alive today,
