Editor: As we sit at home horrified at the sight of what's happening in our country, I keep thinking that some kind of counter protest is required to show that we don't all agree with causing such disruption to others to make a point. Especially since the original point is long lost.
Here's my "protest" suggestion. We should bombard our local food banks, shelters OSHARE, Salvation Army, Safe 'n Sound, United Way, in amounts they've never before seen, with every community across the country donating directly to their local services. Social media would be a great vehicle for spreading the word.
Maybe $10 million is too lofty a goal, but wouldn't that be something!
The so called "Freedom Convoys" have disrupted movement of food and other essentials already affected by the pandemic resulting in increased costs for all of us but most seriously for those who have struggled most and have the least.
The protesters who have become illegal occupiers are having a great time with lots of financial help.
We can demonstrate for a more positive outcome by putting our money - as much as possible - to help provide a better life for those for whom life is no party.
