Le Concours is an annual French public speaking event for Bluewater District School Board students in grades 4 through 12 studying French as a Second Language (FSL), and is conducted jointly by Bluewater Chapters of Canadian Parents for French and Bluewater District School Board. wpid-coffee-conversation11The Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Georgian College, together with the Social Enterprise Network of Central Ontario, is hosting Owen Sound Changemaker Days at the Owen Sound Campus on Wednesday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The free professional development events include "Localized Coffee Conversations" and an introductory social enterprise and changemaking workshop.

The event will appeal most to Grey-Bruce non-profit organizations and their stakeholders who are developing or are already operating a social enterprise. Participants will enjoy fresh local coffee, great conversation and networking, followed by specialized workshops.

The Food Security Action Group (FSAG) seeks to identify sustainable best practices and community-based food security initiatives across Bruce and Grey Counties. In doing so, the FSAG is striving to help increase access to local foods, reduce food waste, and enhance local economic development. The FSAG is one piece of the Poverty Task Force Framework, which is a network of service agencies in Bruce and Grey Counties that work together to create a proactive approach to poverty reduction and eventual elimination in our communities.

The FSAG is working towards creating an inventory of all of the food-related organizations, programs and businesses within Grey Bruce that are and/or are interested in connecting and collaborating with partners within the local food system. By creating more connections between local producers and food businesses and community food organizations, the FSAG is hoping to build food-security in Bruce and Grey Counties.
