DADnNatieIn honour of his departed father from ALS, Jeffrey Burnett will face his own adversities for the second time by completing a one-day charity ride from his childhood home in Milton Ontario, Canada to his father’s resting place in Leith Ontario, Canada off the shores of Georgian Bay. He will depart Middleton Crescent in Milton Friday 25, 2021 at 6am.

"You will be challenged with adversity, in life, which means troubles. You have to be strong, work through them, try and understand them, and learn from them." – Frank Burnett

Jeffrey lost his dear Father Frank, July 1/20 to a very quick and disgusting battle to ALS. In August 2020 Jeffrey attempted his first charity ride to raise awareness and completed the ride in 10 hours while streaming live on Facebook to a global community. Jeffrey will look to embark on the ride for a second time with others and arrive by his Fathers side to commemorate the 1-year anniversary of his passing.

“It was August 2019 when the journey began. What was a quiet progression, disgustingly sped up. Within months while bed ridden my Mother was faced with the reality of not being able to care for Frank as he needed. Sparring details Frank had a call from a LTC saying a room was available. In a tearful and jarring moment; January 22, 2020 Frank was placed on a stretcher, wheeled into the back of an ambulance, while his grandchildren watched and removed from his home. For ever.

Upon my Dad’s diagnosis I began documenting the harshness of ALS by way of my social media channels. The raw reality of anguish, freight, loss of dignity and heart-breaking events. How it ripped thru my hero's body without care. How it slowly tore a strip inside my family. I grew up having many weekends spent up in Owen Sound Ontario Canada on Georgian Bay. My Dad would take all the backroads with Mum, my brother and I. It was fun. He made it fun.

I will start the ride again at my childhood home in Milton Ontario Canada. I will hit "stream-live" on Facebook. I will take the same route on my bicycle as we did as a family over 35 years ago, not stopping until I ride into my Dad's resting place in Leith Ontario Canada. An incredibly peaceful place off the shores of Georgian Bay, in the country...where he is now with many other family loved ones including his Mum and my brother Mike, his son who died suddenly in 2006.”

Friend me on Facebook & IG where I’ve continued to document the heartbreak of this disease and how it continues to affect my family. Let's get something accomplished together.

I am searching for change.
