Georgian GetToKnowGeorgianGeorgian College as a member of the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC) has joined the MyCreds™ network to deliver documents to students and alumni electronically through a secure, centralized credential wallet, enabling them to access them 24/7 – anytime, anywhere.

Georgian is an early adopter of the digital credentialing network in Canada and is among the first six postsecondary institutions in Ontario to implement the MyCreds™ network. Georgian’s Registrar Cindy Mutchler – a former chair of the Committee of Registrars, Admissions and Liaison Officers (CRALO) – was a thought leader in driving the implementation of the move from paper-based transcripts and parchments to electronic ones.

“The MyCreds™ platform is a key resource that will enhance student services and allow us to continue to provide the best possible experience for our students and alumni,” said Mutchler. “It gives students and alumni private online access to records and documents like transcripts and parchments, ensuring they alone decide when and where their educational information is shared.”

Other benefits:
Stronger control over who documents are shared with
Documents issued through the network are authentic, tamper-resistant and legally valid
Reduces time in processing requests and the potential of lost documents
Lisa Taylor, Executive Director of the Owen Sound Campus, added that the online platform aligns with the college’s bold digital innovation strategy to improve the student experience. The pandemic expedited the launch of MyCreds™ as well as other technology to help deliver curriculum and student services in remote environments.

“This new technology underscores Georgian’s commitment to being a leader in an increasingly digital world and allows us to continue to adapt to students’ needs in a meaningful way,” said Taylor.

The MyCreds™ credentialing wallet is expected to bring efficiencies to what has traditionally been a paper-based process. Students will, for example, be able to send official, digitized and cryptographically-signed transcripts or parchments in seconds, directly to whomever they like.

Graduating students will still receive paper parchments (certificates, diplomas and degrees) in addition to digital access to their documents. Georgian’s MyCreds™ portal went live on June 1.
