After several years at Georgian Shores Church, more than a year of living virtually in a pandemic, and a long search for the perfect place, the REACH family has settled in to its forever home.
Today they made it official with a ribbon cutting, thank-yous to their many friends, donors and volunteers and tours of the building and grounds.
The work of many hands and generous local businesses and individuals in our community, the Centre has a big open kitchen, life and labour market skills room, sunny arts and creativity space, fully- equipped exercise and wellness room, veggie garden and plenty of places for programs and relaxation indoors and out. The outside back wall is alive with colourful origami birds reaching for the sky – a mural designed by local artist Billy Goodkat to illustrate the Centre's goals.
Right inside the front door is the REACH gift shop, open to the public, full of useful and beautiful products made by the participants.
Founded in 2014, the REACH Centre Grey Bruce is a self-funded charity committed to enriching the lives of youth and young adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Their focus is on skill acquisition for independence, community inclusion and friendship.
