Off the northern tip of Haida Gwaii, a boy goes fishing with his Tsinii, his grandfather. As they watch the weather, jig for halibut, and row with the tides, there’s more to learn from Tsinii than how to catch a fish.

Bruce Grey Child and Family Services in celebration of National Truth & Reconciliation Day will be hosting the reading of a brand new book by authors, Sara Florence Davidson and Robert Davidson, called ‘Jigging for Halibut with Tsinii’ on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021 at 11 a.m. This book is geared toward children ages 6 to 8 and grades 1 – 3.

The book is based on Haida artist, Robert Davidson’s own experiences with Tsinii (his grandfather), and this beautiful story highlights intergenerational knowledge and authentic learning experiences.

The book will be released in September and you can purchase a copy at the Ginger Press Book Store in Owen Sound.
