santa bruce county museumThe holiday season is a magical time of year for the young and young at heart, a time for making memories with family and friends. This holiday season join the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre at one of their many holiday events to make those special memories.

‘Santa Visits’ are back at the BCM&CC! Discover creative ways for your little explorers to share their wishes when you visit with Santa at the Museum. Make sure to bring your camera to snap some shots of your kiddos and Jolly ol’ Santa Claus. Santa will be at the BCM&CC for ‘Santa Visits’ on December 4, 11, 17, and 18 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. If you are not able to visit with Santa in person, the elves at the BCM&CC are once again helping Santa perfect his emailing skills. Have your little explorers’ email [email protected] to share their Christmas wishes and good deeds. They will then receive an email response from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa needs to receive emails by December 20, so he has time to respond before the big day!

Other Fun Holiday Season Activities

Families with preschoolers can make wonderful memories while teaching them about community giving at ‘Merry Munchkins’. On December 9, you can watch as your munchkins shop in ‘Bevan’s General Store’ for ingredients to create and decorate meal kits while learning all about giving; all meal kits will be donated to the area food bank. Preregistration is required for this event as space is limited.

New this year is ‘Light up the Holidays, happening on December 16 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Start a new holiday tradition and bring your family to have a “Hallmark” moment at the first light up of the Museum’s historic pioneer buildings. The evening will be spent enjoying seasonal activities and beverages, and the Museum’s professional photographer will be on-site to snap all of those awesome family moments for you. This event is proudly presented by Port Elgin Lions Club.

Did you know that when you are a Museum member you not only receive free admission to the Museum for the whole year, but you also receive discounts on programs and events like these, plus free admission to four more area Museums. Now until noon on December 23, 2021, when you renew or purchase a Museum membership you will also be entered to win a $250 Shop Bruce County Pack! Membership is also the gift that keeps giving with a year filled of exploration and adventure through visits, programs, and events. You can purchase memberships online at brucemuseum.ca.

‘Giving Tuesday’ is a global movement for giving that falls after Black Friday and Cyber Monday to mark the start of year-end donations, this year it falls on Tuesday, November 30. When you donate to the BCM&CC, you help ensure they continue to inspire, educate and remain the premier destination of choice for exploring Bruce County’s collective history. Donations can be made online at brucemuseum.ca and all donations receive a tax receipt for the full amount.

“Staff at the Museum have really packed a fun-filled holiday program for your family to enjoy.” Says Bruce County Warden Janice Jackson, “consider making a donation this year to support their efforts or become a member so you never miss out on all of the memorable programs.”

The BCM&CC is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Discover more and plan your journey through Bruce County history at brucemuseum.ca.
