The young proprietors of Krazy Kernals are giving all their weekend proceeds from their specialty popcorn to support an important local charity. They sold 401 bags and the $2005 - plus a matching donations - will go directly to OSHaRE.

Jacob and Taren, grade 7 students and best friends, have been selling their popcorn since July at the Owen Sound Farmers' Market. The boys heard about OSHaRE, went to have a tour and made their decision.

They were hoping to donate $1000 to OSHaRE by selling 200 bags of popcorn at $5 each, and they invited local businesses to match what they raise. Peter Reid of Tibbs Management took them up on their challenge, and today they messaged him with a heads-up. Pre-sales suggest that the boys will be raising more than $1000. Peter told them to “keep the popper going and I'll extend my matching to what ever you raise.” It turned out to be $2005!

Krazy Kernals was at the Farmers' Market on Saturday from 8:30 until 12:30, and then at the Student Makers' Market at the Sydenham Campus (former Sydenham School, 1130 8th St East) from 1 until 4, selling Kettle Corn, Movie Theatre, Classic Caramel, and Fruit Punch (cherry, raspberry, grape).

If you know of any businesses that may want to help match what Krazy Kernals raises, please have them reach out directly to OSHaRE. Charitable receipts will be available.
