Attention Pokémon Trainers – the United Way of Bruce Grey invites you to “Catch them all!”

The popular Pokémon Go Community Day event is back and in support of local community programming. On Saturday, April 23rd from 2 pm to 5 pm, the United Way will be at Harrison Park to celebrate the April 2022 “Stufful” Pokémon Go Community Day. Stufful is a normal / fighting Pokémon that resembles a bear cub. Although small and super cute, Stufful has extraordinary strength and attacks by flailing its powerful arms. It evolves into “Bewear.”

There is a large base of Pokémon Go players locally and this event was very well received last year. "In addition to getting outside and enjoying some spring weather, the event supports community programming as well” explains Francesca Dobbyn, Executive Director for the United Way and experienced Pokémon Go player.

The United Way will be placing lures on all “PokeStops” at Harrison Park so there will be lots of Pokémon to choose from. Tickets for the event are $10 each. Participants will get a sticker to represent their team as well as a Pokémon themed cookie. Over $1500 in prizes to be won. The event is also a great opportunity to connect with area players, make new friends and “lucky trades” she further explains.

Pokémon Go is an augmented reality mobile game developed and published by Niantic. The game is based on the popular Japanese anime series and allows trainers to catch wild Pokémon, hatch eggs, battle and more!

For more information, see the Event section of the United Way’s website at www.ospogo.ca or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Unitedwaybrucegrey

You may also call 519-376-1560 during regular business hours. Tickets can also be purchased at the United Way office at 380 9th Street East, Owen Sound.

The United Way asks everyone to follow Public Health regulations while playing Pokémon Go. They ask that you “mask up” when interacting with United Way staff and volunteers during the event.
