Bluewater elementary teachers raised over $4,700 for local women's shelters during a fundraising event Thursday.

The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, Bluewater Local, hosted its 20th Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Club at Westlinks in Port Elgin.

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, participants were excited to attend this fun event for a worthy cause. Over $4,700 was raised by 70 participants, who purchased auction baskets of goodies donated by Bluewater school staffs and local businesses.

The proceeds were donated to The Women's Centre, Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey, and Saugeen First Nation - Kabaeshiwim Respite Women's Shelter. The ETFO Bluewater Teacher Local also donated an additional $500 to each organization.

The ETFO Bluewater Local is grateful to all those who attended and donated items to support the women's shelters in Grey and Bruce counties.
