Mittens, boots, scarf and hat? Check   Socks for the United Way? Check √   Food for the Salvation Army? Check √   Letter to Santa? Check √

You are ready for the Kiwanis Owen Sound's 77th annual Santa Claus parade on Saturday, Nov. 19, starting at 5:00 p.m. and lasting an hour or more.

It has become a tradition for the parade to be a time for giving – and this year in addition to the food items collected by the Salvation Army, the United Way will be accepting socks. Did you know they have given out nearly 2,000 pairs this year to warm your neighbours' feet?

To spread out the crowds and make sure everyone gets a good view, the route is extended this year – south along 2nd Avenue East from Metro, then east on 8th at city hall and a block south on 9th Avenue.

The parade theme is A Magical, Musical Christmas and after the parade the lights and music will continue with entertainment downtown starting at 6:00 p.m. and the Festival of Northern Lights fireworks and Lighting of the Lights at 7:00 p.m.
