Thank you so much to those of you who were able to make it to a very inspiring inaugural Community Visioning Session for Glassworks. I was blown away by the knowledge and wisdom in the room and the passion around this ambitious and ground breaking project. I very much look forward to the next layers of our conversation as we explore the ideas and decisions that will shape the details of Glassworks Village.
Meanwhile, here, as promised are:

The full video of Matt Hickey from Two Row Architects speaking about Indigenous teachings, Inclusive design and the "6 F Words" (we watched mins: 21:14 - 26:00)

  • Wanda Dalla Costa's video about Indigenous Futurities, community design activities and how to embed values in architecture (We watched mins: 37:00 - 41:40)
  • Our crowd sourced research document. This is where we'll continue to build our pool of knowledge about references, precidents and great ideas for design, decision-making, materials, and sharing systems, etc. It is a collaborative document, so you can add any links or comments to the relevant sections or add sections as you see fit.
  • The recording of our conversation on Tuesday (with apologies the recording starts a few minutes in, but the best parts are included).

And just a reminder about upcoming events. We hope to see you:

  • Tomorrow (Friday) 5-7:30pm for our Potluck Dinner at the Harmony Centre in Owen Sound, to meet in person and continue our Community Visioning conversation with our amazing former board member and graphic note-taker Sue Seguin! Please bring along a dish to share (if you can, but if not, just come!) and feel free to bring any books, photos or references that you would like to share. (*Note John Restakis will join us for a future event, not this one!) All welcome!
  • Our Annual General Meeting on Dec 7 via Zoom. Mark your calendar. Link and registration to come in our next newsletter

Thank you all again for a very inspiring inaugural conversation. See you soon, and do not hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, or offers to engage in any of our committees, or to help with our fundraising efforts.

Kelsey Carriere, President of the Glassworks Cooperative Sustainable Housing Project
