Upon his retirement from politics this year, Bill Walker graciously asked in lieu of gifts, that his colleagues, friends, and family consider a donation to Grey Bruce Hospice.

On Friday, Dec. 16, Mr. Walker presented a very generous gift of $43,000 to the staff and volunteers at Chapman House.

“Bill has been a dedicated champion of Grey Bruce Hospice since day one”, shared Janet Fairbridge, Executive Director of Grey Bruce Hospice. “He recognized early on that the need for free access to hospice palliative care is important for all citizens of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, and he was a tireless advocate on our behalf. While no longer at Queen’s Park, he continues to provide his generous support and we are very grateful.”

Bill Walker said, “It is truly an honour to support Grey Bruce Hospice, and I would like to thank those family and friends who donated, and a special acknowledgement to the nuclear industry who stepped up to sponsor my retirement dinner very generously.

"Chapman House is a wonderful organization that provides care and compassion in a family’s greatest time of need, and it is my pleasure to have helped in a small way. As we move toward the holiday season and year-end, I would like to encourage anyone who is able to reflect on how fortunate we are to have such an incredible facility, staff, and volunteers in our community, and to give as they are able, now and in future.”

Mr. Walker’s donation is being directed to the annual Year-End campaign at Grey Bruce Hospice, this year in celebration of “home” at Chapman House.

For more information and to make your donation to this campaign, please go to the Grey Bruce Hospice website, or call 519-370-7239.
