For the past 17 years, the Reindeer Romp has been donating to local community organizations that support our vulnerable populations in Saugeen Shores (Southampton and Port Elgin) region.

This year's event will once again support mental health initiatives at the Bruce Shoreline office, the local Grey-Bruce branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

The 18th Annual Reindeer Romp will take place on Saturday, Dec. 24, at 9:00 a.m., starting at the Fitness Corner, 497 Meadow Lane, Southampton.

The Reindeer Romp is a non-competitive event that covers a new route this year. Everyone (adults, children, strollers, pets on leash) is welcome to take part by walking or jogging (or rollerblading or cycling or skiing or snowshoeing!) the 2.5 or 5 km routes. Festive costumes are encouraged.

Donations are gratefully accepted by cash or cheque the day of the event or online at ReindeerRompFor MentalHealth.ca.

The Canadian Mental Health Association sends out their thanks to event organizers, Holly Vanderzwet and Geordie Farrell, for not only planning this event but also for supporting mental wellness in Saugeen Shores.

“Our appreciation and gratitude also go out to the event participants. At a time where one in four are experiencing mental wellness challenges, these funds will go a long way to spread hope and brighter horizons in the Saugeen Shores area. Thank you to all for making a difference locally!” says Heather Anderson, Fundraising  and Special Event Coordinator, CMHA Grey Bruce.
