The Owen Sound and District Junior Optimists have partnered with the Owen Sound Legion to mark Optimist Day on Thursday, Feb. 2.
Free postcards are available at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 6 until Saturday, Jan. 28.
Please consider writing a message to a member of the Canadian military to show your gratitude for their service. Or send a postcard to a local senior living in long-term care who may be feeling isolated.
These postcards will be Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) since the recipient will be unknown, but this thoughtful gesture is sure to lift their spirits.
The display at the Owen Sound Legion includes the free postcards as well as the address for sending mail to members of our military.
To send a Random Act of Kindness to a local senior, simply address the postcard with the name of the long-term care facility. A list of the facilities in Owen Sound is provided in the display.
Please leave the completed postcards in the Optimist Mailbox and the Owen Sound and District Junior Optimists will ensure all postcards are delivered, including providing postage where needed.
This service group of 20 youth, ages 10 to 17, have a goal of sending 100 Random Acts of Kindness.
Please help, and show that Owen Sound cares while celebrating Optimist Day on Thursday, Feb. 2!
