Dropping the Hammer for Healthcare!
Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation’s online Spring Auction runs April 8-15.
Spring has sprung and the BPH Foundation office is bustling with Spring Auction preparations.
This year marks the 28th anniversary of this much-anticipated annual event, and year after year, the auction seems to get bigger and bigger. Hundreds of auction items have been donated by all sorts of local businesses, artists, restaurants, contractors, growers, and more.
“I am pretty certain that our auction is the biggest fundraising online auction in Grey Bruce. We are so proud to feature the best of the Bruce, and love the variety of items that our businesses have made available for bidding,” said April Patry, BPHF Executive Director.
The auction boasts a total of $50,000 in retail value, featuring a number of categories including:
- Backyard Paradise
- Local Growers
- Local Arts
- Dining
- Family Fun
- The Great Outdoors
- Pets
- Travel
- Vintage & Collectables
- and lots more!
Of special mention are: a $5,000 gift certificate that can be redeemed at Wiarton Home Hardware Building Centre or the Design Centre; Air Canada has contributed two domestic flights anywhere in North America, including Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean; and new this year, Peninsula Appliances has provided a Maytag Refrigerator valued at $2,700.
In recent years, another very special Christmas category has developed in which Christmas themed artwork and crafts made by local students are available for bidding. This year, we are happy to feature the senior art students of PSDS who created a number of beautiful winter landscape canvasses.
Last year's Spring Auction raised a record-breaking $40,600 which helped fund emergency eye care equipment, physiotherapy equipment, and patient room improvements for GBHS Lion's Head, and an ultrasound machine and emergency department renovations for GBHS Wiarton.
As always, there is lots of need for support again this year. We are raising funds a bladder scanner for GBHS Wiarton, a nurse call system for GBHS Lion’s Head, and an echocardiography unit for Regional Care.
The Spring Auction preview and for early bidder registration beginning April 1 is available on the Auction's webpage now, then the Auction goes LIVE Saturday, Apr. 8, at 7:00 a.m. and runs 24/7 until Saturday, Apr. 15.
