The Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op is pleased to host the 13th Annual High School Juried Show for senior secondary students in Grey and Bruce Counties for the month of May.
Saturday, May 6, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. there will be a open house and ceremony presenting seven awards to these exceptional students for their two- and three-dimensional art.
The public will be able to view and vote for the People’s Choice Award which will be given out at the end of the month after all votes are tallied.
This is a diverse exhibit not only allows the students to show their work in a gallery setting, it also allows us to see how creative these youth are. Over 120 pieces of art were entered and all are on display.
This is an excellent opportunity to reward students for excellence in arts and crafts, encourage confidence and a future in the arts.
Over $400 in cash and prizes will be awarded, donated from local artist and community groups, including the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario.
It's salon time at the Artists' Co-op as Stella Coultas sorts and hangs 120 pieces of art. |
In the 13 years of hosting the Student High School Show this is the largest collection of their art the Artists’ Co-op has had the privilege to display. All secondary schools in Grey Bruce were invited to participate and most are represented here today.
This speaks to the artistic drive in the students to finish their projects and to the teachers who inspire them to do so. As each piece was placed on the wall, we stood in awe of their talent.
The Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op is open seven days a week, at 942 2nd Avenue East.
