cygnet

- by Karen Fran

I'm very sad to have to report that the injuries were fatal to the cygnet.

We don't know what caused it but he had a wound to his abdomen that I knew was critical, and was worried it would be fatal but wanted to get it to the veterinary team at Toronto Wildlife Centre where I knew it would get the best possible chance if there was any hope for it.

I'm very sorry for the sad outcome. I know a lot of people in the community have taken a great interest in watching this beautiful family of swans at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park in Owen Sound.

After working in a small animal hospital for many years in Guelph, Karen joined the Port Elgin Veterinary Clinic in 2019 when she relocated to the area with her husband. She is a volunteer with the Toronto Wildlife Centre.
