Intersections Wood Collaborative will host a Turn-a-Top Turn-athon at their Owen Sound studio at 299 10th St. E. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Intersections logoIntersections Wood Collaborative is proud to partner with the Grey Bruce Woodturners Guild to host a turn-athon which will feature woodworkers from across southern Ontario making spinning tops for donation to children’s charities.

Tops will be made by turning blocks of wood at high speed on a lathe while shaping and decorating them.

Up to 10 woodturners will be working simultaneously in the Intersections Studio with a collective goal to make as many tops as possible in one day.

Everyone is invited to watch the lathes in action, try out a top or two, and learn more about ways woodturning guilds contribute to the community.

They also make bravery bead bowls for children undergoing cancer treatment, and wig stands for those undergoing chemotherapy. Samples will be available for viewing.

Event organizer Adam Cottrill says: "The Turn-athon is a perfect fit for Intersections and I welcome everyone to come down on August 26 to learn more and spin a few tops."

There is no charge to attend.
