What can we say about the generosity of our musical neighbours?
This weekend there are two concerts featuring some of the best, benefits both for people across the world and in our own backyard.
Saturday you will be able to enjoy a little country, folk, sweet harmonies and "old time mountain" music when Leah Mathies, Larry Jensen, Beckon, and Randy Benson take their turns on the stage. The show begins at 7, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on 1st Ave. West in Owen Sound, and from 6 p.m. on you can browse and bid at a silent auction of items donated by neighbouring friends and businesses. This is your opportunity to help Safe 'n Sound Homelessness Initiative fulfill its vision of "a healthy, caring, inclusive, and respectful community committed to ending homelessness and poverty". Tickets are $20 in advance (reserve by calling Safe 'N Sound at 519-470-SAFE (7233), or $25 at the door.
Sunday afternoon at 1:00, soprano Jennifer Potter and singer/songwriters Larry Jensen and David Sereda will be performing a "Concert for Hope" at Trinity United Church in Annan. No ticket is required for this benefit for Syrian refugees - admission is by donation, and all donations will be tax receipted. For more information, call 519-376-8257.
